Coming into the season, the Colorado Buffaloes were the great unknown. Coach Deion Sanders entered the fold and brought with him all the promises in the world. No doubt the expectations are that he will become one of the best coaches in Buffaloes’ history.
As it turns out, he brought over 50 transfers with him to bolster Colorado football roster.

Colorado Buffaloes 2023 Football Schedule
Colorado @ #20 TCU – 45-42 Buffs
TCU was the first game on Colorado football schedule. Everyone wrote off the Buffs before the game even started. But the Buffs came out to play and never went away. As the game unfolded, the Buffs just wouldn’t go away and the National Championship runners-up had a fight they weren’t expecting.
When all was said and done, the Buffs stood tall with a 45-42 upset – they were 20-point underdogs – in Coach Sanders’ first game as head coach. What a way to debut and bring life to the program that hasn’t been there in ages.

#19 Colorado vs. Nebraska – 36-14 Buffs
Following the major upset, there was concern of a letdown on the second game of Colorado football schedule 2023. The game was ugly thanks to several Nebraska turnovers, but it wound up going the right way for the Buffs. A comfortable 36-14 win over their Big Eight/Big 12 rival kept the high tide going.

#19 Colorado vs. Colorado State – 43-35 (OT) Buffs
Things got a little ugly before the game started as comments from the CSU coach little a fire. A cheap shot on Travis Hunter knocked him out of the game early and the Buffs looked a little sloppy.
Travis has everything he needs to become one of the best tight ends in history of the Buffaloes, so this is a major loss.
But they fought back, eventually toppling their bitter rival in overtime. Sanders wished the best on rivals during the rest of Colorado State football schedule.

#19 Colorado @ #10 Oregon – 9/23
With all due respect to TCU, this is the first major test. Visiting Autzen is a different experience, and it is one of the most underrated experiences in college football. If the Buffs aren’t careful, they will get into trouble on the road.
This one could end in a shootout. QB Shedeur Sanders is completing almost 79% of his passes, averaging more than 400 yards per game. If he can stay hot, the Buffs will not only be in this one but could threaten a major upset.

#19 Colorado vs. #5 USC – 9/30
As soon as the Buffs are done with the Ducks, they get another major test. At least this one is at home in Boulder but it is still a daunting task no less. USC is powered by Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams and he seems to be on track to become the first back-to-back winner ever.
This stretch has the potential to get ugly. If Colorado can’t keep the game high-scoring, one (or a few) could get away from them. No one is expecting an unbeaten season but this is the part of the schedule that matters the most.

#19 Colorado @ Arizona State – 10/7
This should be one on Colorado football schedule that Sanders team can win, even on the road. Arizona State has been terrible this year. They lost 27-15 to Oklahoma State and 29-0 to Fresno State, both at home. Their one win was a 3-point victory over Southern Utah. Look for the Buffs to dominate here.
#19 Colorado vs. Stanford – 10/13
Just like Arizona State, this game in the Colorado Buffaloes football schedule should be one the Buffs will be favored for. The Stanford program has fallen off the rails in recent years because of difficulties in recruiting. Look for Shedeur and the high-flying offense to put the pedal to the metal in this one.
#19 Colorado @ #22 UCLA – 10/28
The second slate of really tough games for Colorado Buffaloes football schedule begins with a trip to UCLA. It’s hard to get a read on the Bruins because they have played nothing but cupcakes so far. And like Colorado, they have an absolutely brutal schedule, playing five ranked teams, including USC in the Rose Bowl on November 18. If they’re in the midst of a losing streak, the Buffs could take advantage.
#19 Colorado vs #14 Oregon State – 11/4
The Pac-12 conference should begin cannibalizing itself starting with Week 4. Oregon State begins a very tough slate with #21 Washington State, #11 Utah, #22 UCLA, #19 Colorado, #8 Washington, and #10 Oregon all to come. Like UCLA, Colorado could benefit if the Beavers are riding a losing streak coming into their matchup with the Buffs.
#19 Colorado vs. Arizona – 11/11
Regardless of how the season goes for Colorado, this could be a breather and a chance to get right if they are coming off a loss. Arizona is a middling team, at best. If Colorado is riding the momentum of a big win here, they could run the score up on an Arizona defense that has rarely been among one of the best in the nation.
#19 Colorado @ #21 Washington State – 11/17
Like Oregon State and UCLA, this is a fringe top-25 team that could go either way in University of Colorado football schedule.
If they build some momentum, this game could be a truly big one. That said, both teams are probably going to lose a few games in the heart of the schedule, but this game could set the table for a potential bowl visit for the Buffs.
#19 Colorado @ #11 Utah – 11/25
The final game of the regular season of 2023 Colorado football schedule could theoretically have a lot on the line. If the Buffs can manage their land mine schedule and lose just one or two games, this could very well have a trip to the Pac-12 title game on the line. It could also be the 6th win they need to land a bowl game. Either way, it’s a very tough challenge to end the year.

Conclusion
The hot start has certainly been a pleasant surprise but there is a tough slate ahead. If the Buffs can navigate the next six games and win at least three, they will be in great shape for the season. More importantly, they will have huge momentum going into Year 2 under Coach Sanders.
